AUGUST VILELLA 「ART BASEL HONGKONG」

Caelis Galeria’s represented artist August Vilella (B.1986) exhibited his latest artwork “You are my universe” in Art Basel Hongkong 2023 and received the warm welcome from the international collectors worldwide.
This latest artwork presented his surreal-intuitive method. The elements in the artwork contribute to a surreal vision and become unexpectedly but closely connected within a gentle atmosphere,making these scenes recognizable for the viewers.
August Vilella begins the process of working with careful realist techniques. The fine brushstrokes, layered with thin, transparent oil paint, constitute another important aspect that makes up the artist’s style. Compared to large, thick brushstrokes, these meticulous brushwork and flimsy layers have always been a challenge both for the subconscious image generation stage or the stage of fixing the scene with the pigments.
The high success of August in Art Basel Hong Kong is due to the cooperation between Caelis Galeria and Galeria Mayoral. We will explore more cooperation modes together and create more wonderful moments in the future.
